Your question is missing just a small part of the last option. I've found the complete question online. It is as follows.

Pam is writing a literary analysis essay on Giovanni Boccaccio's story "Federigo's Falcon." Which two of the following should she include in the introduction paragraph of her essay?

    A. Even though Monna was unable to fulfill her dying son's wish, she found it in her heart to forgive Federigo after a period of mourning.

    B. An Italian writer and poet, Giovanni Boccaccio grew up in Florence. His mentor, the great poet Petrarch, translated Homer's Iliad and Odyssey at Boccaccio's request.

    C. Despite the tragic deaths of Monna's son and Federigo's falcon, Monna and Federigo find happiness with each other.

    D. "Mother, if you can arrange for me to have Federigo's falcon, I think I would be well very soon." (Boccaccio)

    E. Giovanni Boccaccio's "Federigo's Falcon" is about Federigo, who is in love with Monna. He sacrifices his beloved falcon to prepare a meal fit for her, not knowing that she has come to request the falcon to save her dying son.

    Answer:

Since we are supposed to choose two options, I believe the best ones would be:

    B. An Italian writer and poet, Giovanni Boccaccio grew up in Florence. His mentor, the great poet Petrarch, translated Homer's Iliad and Odyssey at Boccaccio's request.

    E. Giovanni Boccaccio's "Federigo's Falcon" is about Federigo, who is in love with Monna. He sacrifices his beloved falcon to prepare a meal fit for her, not knowing that she has come to request the falcon to save her dying son.

    Explanation:

In the introduction of a literary analysis essay, the writer commonly gives readers two types of information. First, he briefly explains who the author of the work being analyzed is. The author's experiences in life and historical context may or may not influence his work. Still, it is common to talk a bit about who they are, where they are from, when they wrote that work etc.

Then, the writer usually proceeds to talk about the work under analysis. He usually explains what the work is and what it is а bout: is it a novel, a short story, a poem? What are the themes developed in it? What is the story, the plot?

That's why options B and E seem to be the best choices when it comes to writing an introduction. Option B offers information about the author, Boccaccio. Option E explains what Boccaccio's work is about. Now that readers have those pieces of information, the writer can move on to unravel details more deeply.

In the introduction paragraph of her essay Pam should use the first one (that says Even though Monna was unable to fulfill her dying son's wish, she found it in her heart to forgive Federigo after a period of mourning ...) or re-check the information on Petrarch as it is not accurate. Petrarch and Boccaccio, both well known italian poets, earliest humaniets, were closed friends but did not request the translation of Homer, he bought the manuscript.
