    A complex sentencen is made up of two clauses: a main clause and a subordinating clause.

    Although designing shoes is hard work, it will pay off in the end. This is the correct sentence. (Although designing ... : is the subordinating clause; "it will pay ... is the main clause).

    These options are not right.

    -Designing shoes is hard work, but it will pay off in the end. (These are two indepwndent clauses linked bu "but").

    -Designing shoes is hard work; however, it will pay off in the end. (These are two independent clauses linked by however),

    - Designing shoes is hard work; it will pay off in the end (These are two independent clauses linked by semi colon).
