    Linton Kwesi Johnson came to Brixton from Jamaica in the year 1962.

    He wrote the poem Five Nights of Bleeding about the violence in South London at the time. The poem was dedicated to Leroy Harris that was killed in one night in a party.

    In 1981 in London there was the Brixton's Bloody Saturday, which the police confronted protesters for three days, most of them were black and young man.

    More than 300 citizens were injured.

    Later, Linton Kwesi Johnson wrote the poem Di Great Insohreckshan as an allusion to the 1981 Brixton riot.
