According to the text, lines 2-7; The narrator expresses how he recognized a few of his relatives in the film looking dusty and thin as sparrows while returning from the field with farm tools on their shoulders, and that the workers were squinting, eyes small and veined as they were using their hands to say what was to say to the audience who were with popcorn and cokes. He narrates that he did not have anything as he sat thinking about his family and their years in the field, beginning with how his grandmother came from Mexico after the Mexican revolution to settle in the United State.

The description shows that the workers were tired and exhausted, the impact of the description in the text indicates that workers were feeling hopeless.
