March on Washington, in full March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, political demonstration held in Washington, D. C., in 1963 by civil rights leaders to protest racial discrimination and to show support for major civil rights legislation that was pending in Congress. And because there was so much war between the color and white in Washington

He choose this location because he wanted to go to the central government system so that they could pass a law that the states would have to obey, the states can not violate the national law, so he wanted to go to the central government so he would only have to protest once in one place instead of in all 50 states.
