Peter doesn't have many respect for the star as he says he will burn it. While Anne said she wont burn it and actually keep it, but she doesn't know why.

The Star of David didn't have any meaning for Peter, he wanted to burn it however Anne says that she can't throw hers aways. Peter viewed the Star in a negative manner, it was a reminder of everything that was happening outside, however it had value therefore Anne somewhat thought it was important to her.
