The origin of the monster's evil is its suffering and the continuous rejection it feels towards its being. His pain incites anger, resentment, hatred and revenge, but if he has a partner, someone like him, who understands him, all those emotions will disappear. The monster begs Victor to create a companion and if Victor does not do what he asks he will avenge himself, causing terror and his hatred will fall especially on him, his creator. Victor, moved and terrified, promises that he will create a companion for him on the condition that no human will ever see them again, that they will go to live in the jungles of America and feed off the fruits of nature far from everything.

When Victor is creating the monster's companion, he sees his first creation by the window and he regrets everything he has done so far, because of this, in front of the monster he destroys the new monster he was working on. The monster sees how Victor destroys with his hands what must be the creature that made his happiness possible.

Later, the monster enters into Victor's room and reproaches him for having destroyed all his hopes after all the hardships he has endured by following him on his journey. It cannot be that everything has remained in nothing. Victor does not regret and insists on breaking his promise. Before disappearing, the angry creature says to Victor "OK, I'll go. But remember: I'll be with you on your wedding night!"
