Some people consider that it might be mistaken, by some people as confirming the racial stereotypes about black slaves that were prevalent during the author's era. They consider that such dialect would make the character less human and sympathetic since it would turn into a subject of racist mockery of black slaves in the vein of minstrel shows (an artistic performance mocking black Americans that was very popular during the 19th century).
