    The perineum is diamond-shaped. It is bounded anteriorly by the pubic symphisis, posteriorly by the coccyx, and laterally by the rami and sacrotuberous ligaments. The perineum is divided into two triangles by an imaginary line; the urogenital triangle and the ana1 triangle.

    The female urogenital triangle components include; the urethra, the external urethral sphincter, the opening of the birth canal and the cl1toris.

    The structures of the ana1 triangle are not included in the urogenital triangle and they include; The opening of the ana1 orifice, external ana1 sphincter and the ischioanal fossae.
