Watch the movie West Side Story, 1961. How do changes in the character's relationships (i. e. Maria and Bernardo being close siblings instead of cousins and Riff living with Tony's family) and the added problems (i. e. ethnic relations) affect the meaning and feel ing of the story?

This film is really a reality that many immigrants have to face; clearly the film shows the illusion of a group of young Puerto Rican immigrants who come to the United States with the illusion of achieving a better life but must face the sad reality of racism and the discrimination.

    Explanation:

But there are definitely no barriers to love as Maria and Tony fall madly in love even though neither group agrees with what is happening, but tragedy after tragedy inevitably has to happen for those racial barriers to be removed at once; like the death of Riff, then the death of Bernardo and finally the death of tony; These unfortunate events had to happen for both gangs to understand how important it is to live in a country in freedom without hatred or racial prejudice.

It is shown that revenge only produces more death and pain, so the fact that Tony would have sought revenge from his friend Riff only brought more pain and suffering not only for him but for the woman he loved.
