The correct answer is letter D. We had to the movies

    Explanation:

Before I start to explain about my answer, I am going to explain what means "Independent clause" and how you can use it in a sentence. So, firstly, "Independent Clause" is a sentence that you needn't a complement to continue or to understand the whole sentence, like a preposition, a conjuction, and adverb, adjective, etc. In this case, this phrase explain by itself, without a complement.

We have in a "Independent clause" a subject and a predicate. The predicate of a sentence is the part that modifies the subject in some way, whatever sort of subject you have: person, place, or thing. That's because I answered this question with letter D "We head to the movies", because this sentence is complete and answer by itself without using another grammatical way to have the understanding of all contents.

D we head to the movies

    Explanation:

An independent clause has a subject and a verb, and it is a complete thought. The answer has the subject, we, and the verb, head. It is a complete thought by itself. Option A does not have a subject or verb since it is a prepositional phrase. Option B has a subject and verb, but the conjunction "if" creates an incomplete thought and makes it a dependent clause. Option C does not have a subject.
