Some neighborhood variables that matter for police performance are:

Economic and racial disadvantages: factors such as levels of poverty and unemployment, families that rely on women, and number of African Americans represent an influence over police actioning.

Homicide Rate: it is the most trustworthy criterion employed to measure crime. It is found that this rate is higher in low-income and racially excluded neighborhoods.

As a matter of fact, police officers are more likely to use force over people in these disadvantaged neighborhoods which also have high homicide rates, because their actioning is biased by statistics and daily experiences.
