    That made it obvious that, he acknowledged that some people are meant to be acquired as a property. The former slave owners he referred to masters and mistresses of the property (That is, the slaves).

    This was also his view doing his campaign with him prefeering that slave abolishment should be determined by the popular opinion of slave owners rather than abrupt abolishment all over the United states of America.
