Professional appearance for the work place is the process of dressing smartly for a work in a given work environment. The dress code adopted could be a business smart dressing or official dressing. Casual dressing is never part of it.

For example, wearing a business pant with long-sleeve shirt (Tuck in) is more of a professional appearance than when someone wears onliy T-short and vest to work.

Workplace appearance affect work performance in the sense that, inappropriate dressing makes other staffs to be distracted from their work thereby leading to lower productivity unlike when everyone is professional dressed which showcases seriousness and business inclined environment.
