Why is the rent for apartments in New York expensive than in Kansas? supply and demand

People want to live in New York, and there are always people to move into vacated apartments. Therefore, realtors will raise prices to make money, because they know no matter how much they charge (within reason, of course) someone will buy it. Kansas does not have this kind of economy.
