Thomas More wrote Utopia during a period of increased prosperity and a growing middle class. Utopia was published in 1516, a year before the outbreak of the Reformation. Nevertheless, it was written in a time when the issues that led to the Reformation were becoming more prominent. More was against Protestants, although in the book religious tolerance was key to the Utopian society. Utopia is a fictional book of socio-political satire. The book talks about a fictional island and its customs.
