There are many authors who are relevant in the USA during the 1930's, but, most would consider that Ernest Hemingway, William Faulkner, and Henry Miller, according to their current relevance, are three writers that any anthology on American writers from the 30's should include (of course the list should include many more names, but just listing them all would be unfitting for the scope of this question).

Hemingway would be included because his clean, neat, and direct style, created a form of realism that to this day is very much in vogue.

Faulkner was one of the most important authors to develop the form of literature called stream of consciousness in which thoughts and perceptions are presented in the page as they often present themselves to anybody's mind.

Finally, Henry Miller, with his direct, often dirty, revelations, created a mixture of mysticism and realism that would come to influence not only other American generations, but many authors as well in the old continent, where he actually spent a lot of his time writing.
