Why did General Sheridan choose to attack Native American tribes in the winter? They were most accessible out hunting during this season. Tribes were most vulnerable in freezing temperatures. General Sheridan's camp only had time to attack in the winter. Weapons and provisions were easier to maintain in cold temperatures.
