His inability to accept any opposition's opinion and the murder of the Mirabel sisters directly led to the downfall of Trujillo's regime.

    Explanation:

In Mike Kubic's article "Trujillo & The Mirabal Sisters", he recounts how Rafael Trujillo came to power in the Dominican Republic and what led to his dictatorial power over the South American nations. Talking about the numerous events that led to the rise of Trujillo's power over the people, Kubic provides the historical facts that signify the despotic nature of his rule.

While the republic seemed to fairly gain from his power, like economic prosperity and stability, there are also other factors which seemed more like a forced belief in their leader. Cities were renamed, his statues erected along the lines of "obsessive personality cult". Even though he allowed an opposition party, it was just a means for him to identify who opposes him and got them killed by the "SIM (the Servicio de Inteligencia Militar) ". This secret service agent was used by him to get rid of anyone bold enough to question his regime.

But among his numerous atrocities, his most brutal act was the murder of the Mirabel sisters - "Patria, María Teresa, and Minerva Mirabal". They led a group of revolutionary armies to overthrow Trujillo which led to their deaths. The article states clearly "What crowned - and finished - Trujillo's vile career was the murder of three sisters who refused to knuckle down to terror that millions of men feared to fight." This, along with his refusal to have anyone oppose his authority even though he claimed to work for the interest of the people, led to his downfall.
