Explain and give an example of the word Allusion

Allusion means to refer to something without actually mentioning it. an example of that could be when MLK Jr. said "Five score years ago, a great American, in whose symbolic shadow we stand today, signed the Emancipation Proclamation." making an allusion of when Abraham Lincoln said "Four score and seven years ago." in the Gettysburg address

An allusion is when a person or author makes an indirect reference in speech, text, or song to an event Often the allusions made are to past events or figures, but sometimes allusions are made to current famous people or events.
