This is when Darry really got mad and told Soda to stop telling him how to raise his little brother. Ponyboy has gotten mad now and when he tells Darry not to yell at Soda. Darry has had enough and he turns around and hits Ponyboy hard in the face. Everything went quiet and that's when Ponyboy had had enough of Darry's complaints about him and he ran out the door and ran away.
