    "Flowers for Algernon" is a short story and a novel written by Daniel Keyes. The story is about Charlie, a man in his thirties with an IQ of 68. He is taken by Dr. Strauss and Dr. Nemur for a new surgical technique to increase intelligence.

    Dr. Strauss was a neurosurgeon and a psychiatrist, a therapist of Charlie. Dr. Nemur, on the other hand, is a psychologist who is looking for a person to perform brain surgery to increase intelligence. They both shared similarities in their profession and a desire to perform the surgery.

    The difference between Dr. Strauss and Dr. Nemur is in the way they both treated Charlie. For Dr. Nemur, Charlie was nothing but a mere lab rat whom they chose to perform the experiment. Whereas, Dr. Strauss treated Charlie with gentleness and like a human being.
