Sanusiyah was the political order developed in Libya and Sudan in 1837. It was the Muslim Sufi Brotherhood developed by Sidi Muhammad ibn Ali as-Senussi. He is considered to be the originator of Sanusiyah in 1837 and became the head of Sanusiyah brotherhood in Libya from 1951 to 1969. It was the reformist movement that aimed to bring the Muslims back to simple faith of early Islam.

The Negritude Movement emerged in the wake of estranged place of blacks in history. The movement was heralded by Aime Cesaire, Leopold Senghor, and Leon Damas. The movement began as a criticism of French colonialism and assimilation policies by the government.

Both the movements are considered similar on the grounds that they both were thought to be pro-western. Both the leaders of the movement, the King in Libya and President Senegal adopted pro-western policies in the movement. Thus they both were considered pro-western.
