    In presenting his idea, Abbey describes the Canyon before the Dam. This is because he saw and also studied the area before and after the Dam was built.

    He wrote on about the Canyon, which brought back strong memories of what the canyon country was before Glen Canyon Dam drowned the free-flowing Colorado.
