Here are some of the connotative and figurative language examples in the poem.

1. The expression "See what nature and man can do!" in the poem is a type of figure of speech called metaphor. This involves making comparisons with an abstract object which is not to be taken for it's literal meaning. We know Nature isn't a person, but figuratively the things in nature interacts with man.

2. "The proud gorgeous buildings Love the light" is another example where the author uses a type of figurative language called personification. This involves attributing characteristics of humans to non humans. We know literally that only humans show traits such as been 'proud' or 'to love'. However, the expression figuratively is referring to the individuals inside the "gorgeous buildings".
