The significance or meaning of the poem "Tree Telling of Morpheus" is a direct reference or allusion to the Greek myth of Orpheus. In it, the trees are so mesmerized by the beautiful voice of Morpheus that they actually uproot themselves.

Orpheus, considered a mythological hero and traditionally known as the son of the Muse Calliope and Oeagrus, King of Thrace, (although some say his father was the god Apollo) was so gifted and talented at playing the lyre that he became the patron of a sect or religious movement which was based on writings attributed to him.
