This quote means that Jen would rather die than live as a hidden child anymore. She is sick of hiding and will do anything to be free even if it is dangerous. This demonstrates foreshadowing by showing Jen's stance on her freedom and what she will do to obtain it, this could foreshadow Jen being a martyr for her cause or getting hurt while protesting for freedom.
