The three-fifth compromise dealt with slavery

    Explanation:

The three-fifth compromise of 1787 was a compromise reached by state delegates in the United states. The delegate was raised from the issue of whether if slaves would be counted when determining a state's total population for the purpose of taxation, and the determination the ratio of legislative representation of the northern states and the southern states. Upon deciding that slaves should be counted, another problem of how they should be counted was raised. In the end, after much delegation, a compromise was reached that only three in every five slave should be counted.
