    Answer: he ultimately dies from his pride.

    Explanation:

    He was told that it was dangerous to be traveling alone because it got so cold but he did it anyways because his pride told him that he could and he ends up dying from freezing to death. All of this could've been prevented if he wouldn't of let his pride control him.
