Odysseus put wax in his men's ears and tie himself to the boat so that the seductive song of the sirens would not affect them.

Explanation:

Odysseus visits Hades because he is told by a sorceress that he must go there to receive his prophecy from the blind prophet Teiresias.

Odysseus on his way home was given a fair warning by Circe about the Sirens who could seduce any man with their sonorous and beautiful voices and if they managed to seduce Odysseus and his crew then they would never go home.

Odysseus decides to plug the ear of his crew with wax but tied himself up without plugging his ear and commanded his men not to let him go until they has passed the land of the Sirens.
