She tricks the master and his guest.

    Explanation:

Gretel was a cook with the habit of always tasting the meal she is cooking. She always says "A good cook must know how her cooking tastes!". One day her master asked her to roast two fat chickens which she did, by the time the chicken was almost cooked the guest had not arrived so the master went in search of the guest.

When the master left, she began to eat the chicken. Just as she was finishing off a leg, her master burst into the kitchen. "Quick, Gretel, our guest will be here any moment. Prepare the feast!". when the guest arrived and knocked, she went to the door and told him to go saying to the guest that the master wanted to cut off his ears and eat them. Gretel than ran to her master and told him that the guest had ran with the roasted chickens, so the master went to the door and screamed to his guest to his guest. "Just leave me one!" He waved his big knife in the air. "Leave one for me to eat!".

When the guest heard the masters words, he ran faster. Gretel smiled and said "Never mind, master I'll fix you a nice big sandwich!"

Her master smiled at her saying "You're a clever girl, Gretel, You always make the best of things."
