A clock can be used to create suspense by saying for example "3 years later" and then shows what ahppens

Sample Response: Ellery keeps looking back at the clock as it gets closer to the end of the class period. He and Miss Carpenter are worried. This shows both pacing and suspense because the action happens quickly and the reader does not know when the crime will be solved.
