While stone was commonly used in Egypt, this was only the case when it came to sacred spaces. Sacred spaces in Egypt were built in stone because they were important for the culture of the people. Moreover, these buildings were intended to last many generations. On the other hand, common buildings such as houses were not built with stone because working with stone is an ardous labor. Stone is difficult to obtain and transport. It is also difficult to work with as it requires a lot of skill.
