Why does the narrator compare dialogue in writing to diamond

    Narration is the action of a character telling a story. Narration allows the author to freely move the story forward or backwards ... However, when an author uses dialogue, the timeline of the story slows down. We are in real-time with characters and should be focusing closely to each sentence each character says.
