    Prevent would not work as neither definition defines the word. Corner is the same way, as a corner would only have two sides of streets surrounding it, not four, and it is not an obstruction (blockage) play in sports. Bend is almost like a corner, and again, is not an obstruction. Block is the only word that can be defined by both of these definitions. (City block, walk a block, the football player blocked the kick, etc.)
