The correct answers are 1 and 2. The word protocol comes from a latin word referring to the first page of a book in which the content was written, it was adapted to english to refer to rules of conduct that rule any given thing. So a communication protocol will provide guidelines to the communication between the sender and the recipient of a message, this applies even when the message is shared between friends, relatives or coworkers.
