The writer wants to captivate the reader.

    Explanation:

When you start reading a novel, you discover that the first chapter of the story is full of mystery and it is the most interesting chapter of the story. However, once you continue reading, you will notice that the story focus on other things like describing new characters that appear in the story. Then, the following chapters are more or less the same but the most intriguing chapter will always be the first one. I think that writers choose to write the most intriguing piece at the beginning of the story because it allows the reader to continue reading. In other words, it motivates the reader to keep on reading. As a conclusion, I can say that readers find the first chapter more interesting than the others because writers want to captivate the reader.
