The men that meet at the Atticus' jail are members of the Cunningham family. They are generally decent people. They are farmers and they usually go to church. However, they can be dangerous when they are drunk. Even though they have been drinking and that they are there to kill Robinson when they meet Atticus they start whispering. That attitude shows that they are instinctively respectful. Despite they are respectul, they are uneducated farmers, this is why they have the tendency to behave in a rough way.
