    Answer: Because the captain called him out when he was below deck to give him a second chance.

    Explanation:

    After Abraham Gray was called above deck to be given a second chance he fought for 30 seconds and was given redemption by the captain. He had to fight through a total of 5 men to get his redemption. Since he was not corrupted by the other men, he joined with the captain. It was never spoke of again by either man.

    When Abraham got his share of the treasure he did not go and drink it up and used it wisely. He took his share and studied his trade of choice. He then got married, had children, and buys a part of a ship.
