An allusion is referring to a piece of work from history or literature and requires the reader to understand and know what is being alluded to. A metaphor is a meaning where one thing is compared to another based on their common relation, such as calling a brave man a lion because lions are commonly known as brave. An analogy is comparing a pair of things to another based on similar relationship between them such as hand:finger = foot:toe
