    Two families, who were both just as good as each other,

    Who lived in Verona, where the play will happen,

    From an old grudge, there is new trouble,

    Decent blood will make decent people guilty.

    From the parents of the two families,

    two children who love each other will commit suicide;

    Whose pitiable story will

    get rid of their family's hate.

    This sad story of their fated love,

    and the continuance of their parent's anger at each other

    which could not be removed but by the children's death,

    is now a two hour play

    And if you stay to the end,

    We shall try to entertain you.
