The reason why Don Quixote is a parody is because C. It makes fun of the old tales of knightly adventure.

Don Quixote is quite mad - he believes he is a knight on an adventure to save the love of his life, when in fact, that is not true, and knights have stopped existing a long time ago. Cervantes is trying to mock the whole thing about knights and their lives.
