Mitochondrial transfer could reduce the risks of childhood diseases. The technology that is being developed would allow genetic material to be used in unfertilized eggs and create healthier babies. It allows parents to minimize the risk of a select few diseases related to defect in mitochondria. However, these diseases occur in 1 out of 4,000 children. Should new technology and science play such a role when moral issues are at play. Though this technology will address the issue of Parkinson and MS, which are considered to be serious disease for adults as well as children. So where does a person draw the line when it comes to playing God. Do we start to interfere before the child is born? Or after when the disease is already present?
