In the story "Why you Reckon?" What were the reasons why the narrator and his accomplice want to put a ransom on Edward?

    The other man says in the story that they don't have time, but i personally don't think the other man would ever actually hold him ransom because like you said all they needed was money for food.

    Their motivation is probably external considering hunger was the reason for mugging the man.
