Here is a passage that a writer is quoting. Where should quotation marks be placed? Marlee stood at the edge of the diving board and stared at the pool below. There were others waiting to jump. Their words of encouragement turned to words of impatience. She needed to jump. She needed to jump now. Marlee closed her eyes. She took a deep breath. Then she pinched her nose and jumped.
