In the following passage, what does commandeer most likely mean? Choose the correct answer. Davey Jones was the sneakiest pirate that ever was, at least according to old Tom Brown. Why, that old man would sit on his stoop for hours and talk about legends of the old pirates. His eyes would twinkle while he talked of sword play, grand sea adventures, and gold. But it was always his stories of Davey Jones and his ships that excited him the most. He'd talk about Jones' ability to commandeer a ship in the blink of an eye. One minute the ship was in port, the next, it was on its way to sea with Davey Jones as the new captain.

In this instance, "commandeer" means to take control of. In other words, Jones was able to capture and control the ships and its mates with ease.
