Shakespeare used Holinshed's Chronicles of Englande, Scotlande, and Ireland as the source to write the play Macbeth. This work has various volumes in two editions. The first edition was published 1577 and the second in 1587. It was labelled as world’s cosmography however upon the death of the main printer, Reginald Wolfe, in 1573 the work focused on British Isles.
