    Wallace Stevens, born October 2, 1879, died August 2, 1955, was an American Modernist poet. He was born in Reading, Pennsylvania and was educated at Harvard and then New York Law School, and he spent most of his life working as an executive for an insurance company in Hartford, Connecticut. He was given many awards, naming a few such as the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry, Bollingen Prize, National Book Award for Poetry, Robert Frost Medal. A famous quote from Stevens, " A poet looks at the world the way a man looks at a woman." Meaning, no poet will ever lose his love for the one thing he desires most, writing poetry and sharing it with the world.
