    i think the answer is because of their jobs. Snout is given the name Snout because of he often fixes kettles. Kettles have spouts and snouts. while Bottom is originally known as Nick Bottom. Bottom is known to be one of the best weavers in their land. Lastly, Flute is a bellowsmaker with flute-like nozzles
