What does paine say about the argument that britain has defended the colonies in the past?

    Basically, what he says is that it is correct that Britain has defended the colonies in the past, but that it did so only for its own gain, not for the purpose of actually defending America. What he also says is that if it weren't for Britain, its enemies wouldn't even attack America.
